Re: Oscars, I was delighted that The Departed got best picture. I loved the movie, smart acting, tightly constructed plot, great fun. I haven't enjoyed Leonardo DiCaprio since What's Eating Gilbert Grape? ( by which I mean I liked him in) but here he was at his best as an undercover detective.
The only other oscar movie I saw was The Queen which just isn't my kind of movie so I didn't love it.

I hope to make it Saturday, Tom's at state wrestling tourney, so I doubt he will.
That is all,

I agree, The Departed was fun and well written, but Best Picture? I still don't know. Out of the pictures nominated I still feel that it's a tough decision between The Departed and Babel. Even though I didn't enjoy Babel all that much, I was still very impressed by both its craftsmanship and performaces. The Departed, in comparison seems... just very clever...

Then again! I do actually look forward to seeing The Departed again. (Not so much with Babel.) I loved DiCaprio, Wahlberg, Baldwin. But hated Jack.

Talk about flip-floping!

I guess I'm not really disapointed with the Academy's choice here, and maybe what I'm most frustrated about is that there were films not nominated that could have been in contention. But I suppose that I should be used to that by now.

Oh, duh. I guess I haven't seen Letters From Iwo Jima yet either. I bet that should have won. :)
